South Race Street Historic District, here you can see many homes in the Queen Anne and Colonial revival styles. The Historic Vance was once known as the Queen Anne Hotel. Lake Norman State Park is 10 miles away.
Located 16 miles south of Statesville is the city of Moorsville which is known as 'Race City USA.' This is the area where a lot of NASCAR teams are based. There is a large Museum dedicated to the sport. Drivers past and present have made their home there. Also in the area is Lake Norman where there is boating, fishing, and camping. Not far from Statesville is the city of Hickory and the city of Lenoir where the furniture business is the main industry. There are quite a few 'factory outlets' and furniture marts catering to all needs. Travel a little further Northeast and you will find yourself in the famous Blueridge Parkway and Northeast to Great Smokey Mountains. All the above are within an hour drive.
